Disadvantages of Early Diagnosis

After having a look into the various advantages of the early diagnosis by a physician we now look into the negative side of the process of early diagnosing a case. Very similar to the fact that the amount of advantages of a given case is or may be said to be equivalent to the disadvantages of the procedure of early diagnosis of any given case of disease. The early diagnosis of a case may be wrong.

In the process of making a diagnosis of a disease the physician may overlook many facts, details, feelings, objective and subjective signs and symptoms of the patients and hence will lead to the fact that the ultimate cure and diagnosis will not be made and if made at all will not be correct at all, and in fact may prove fatal to the patient whose diagnosis was being made. Another disadvantage of the fact is that whenever any patient is wrongly diagnosed the reputation of the physician is doomed. They think that if the doctor is not able to diagnose a case, it will possibly be impossible to cure that same disease, and so the future of that doctor is doomed.

Some other facts regarding this are that wrong early diagnosis may lead to the death of a patient. This is due to the wrong modes of treatment applied on the basis of the diagnosis made. Suppose a patient is having a pain in the umbilical region of the abdomen and he goes to a physician, who takes the pain in the abdomen to be the reason of the inflamed appendix, or appendicitis, and suggests an Ultra Sonography or may be even an operation.

These facts lead to a total loss of huge amount of money and the patience of the patient. If at the time of operations the appendix is found to be in normal condition then the loss which the patient has to bear both financially and physically is tremendous.
