Homoeopathy and Early Diagnosis
The mode of treatment which was discovered by the most famous medical practitioner by the name of Dr. Samuel Christian Friedrich Hahnemann is known as Homoeopathy. It is a method of treatment based on the law of nature that is “Similia Similibus Curentur” which means that let likes be cured by likes. Hippocrates had said that like cures like but Dr. Hahnemann derived from there the above mentioned rule or law of its derivation.
The relation of early diagnosis can be understood if we know the story of the evaluation of Homoeopathy. Dr. Hahnemann was a linguist and hence besides practicing also used to translate books. Once in the year 1790, when he was translating Cullen’s Materia Medica he came across the fact written by Dr. Cullen that the properties of cinchona that makes it usable in cases of malaria were the ones that it was bitter in taste.
This fact was unusual to the master, and he thought that if malaria was cured by the cinchona as it was bitter then why not other substances which are even more bitter than cinchona able to cure malaria like ague fever? This made him take the decision of his life and he took a little quantity of the raw juice of cinchona for a few days and was shocked to see that he developed the same symptoms of the malaria like ague fever.
This led him to the conclusion that the medicinal powers or the disease curing power of them are the same as that of the disease producing powers of the same substance. Thus through this story of the evolution of Homoeopathy it is clearly understood that what is required for the early diagnosis of the disease and the cure of the disease in the Homoeopathic mode of the treatment and by following all its procedures and actions.
